PETG material family applications

PETG offers a durable middle ground with better impact and chemical resistance than PLA and less tendency to warp than ABS. It is not as heat tolerant as ABS or an engineering polymer.

Common uses

Enclosures & Housings

Functional housings that need to survive repeated handling without cracking under moderate impact.

Bottles & Containers

Chemical-resistant containers and fixtures, including uncoloured, unfilled grades for food-contact-adjacent parts.

Mechanical Brackets

Mounts and brackets that get handled and reinstalled repeatedly without becoming brittle over time.

Guards & Workshop Aids

Durable guards, trays, and handling aids that need toughness, moisture resistance, and easy cleaning.

Properties

Where PETG works well, and where it does not.

PETG resists impact and chemical exposure noticeably better than PLA and is far less prone to warping during printing than ABS, making it a reliable choice for functional parts without needing an enclosed, heated print environment. It isn't as heat-tolerant as ABS or an engineering polymer, so it's not the right pick for parts sitting near a heat source. Within the family, High-Flow variants print faster, Carbon- and Glass-fibre grades add stiffness, and ESD-Antistatic grades suit electronics-adjacent fixtures.

Common Applications

Where we typically use it.

  • Functional enclosures and housings
  • Outdoor-adjacent parts needing moisture resistance
  • Mechanical brackets and mounts subject to repeated handling
  • Food-contact-adjacent fixtures and containers (uncoloured, unfilled grades)
  • Protective covers and guards
